Freedom from Torture, a charity dedicated to the healing and protection of survivors of torture, hosted a Private View & Art Auction. One of the world’s leading contemporary artists, Damien Hirst, with a net worth of hundreds of millions of dollars, is challenging the definition of art. But is he doing it to further evolve the untamable drive for expression, or is it for profit and prestige?

We are delighted to introduce Alex Echo to the Red Eight Gallery roster. 

The exhibition will run until 24th June, showcasing ten paintings executed between 1976 and 1986, highlighting an iconic series which exemplifies some of the most prolific years of the artist's life.  

His masterpiece El Gran Espectaculo (The Nile) (1983), which he painted when he was just 22 years old, depicts symbols of African culture with references to Ancient Egypt and has resided in the collection of Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani for nearly two decades. The work is expected to sell for around $45m.
