Other artists invited to put forward presentations include Simonette Quamina, Carlos Villa, Deborah Anzinger, Wantanee Siripattananuntakul and Ayoung Kim, all selected by leading artists, Alvaro Barrington, Anthea Hamilton, Simone Leigh, Rirkrit Tiravanija and Haegue Yang, respectively.

The event will renew its focus on women artists and introduce “Modern Women,” curated by Camille Morineau, the co-founder of the non-profit AWARE (Archive of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions), dedicated to solo exhibitions of artwork made by female artists between 1880 and 1990. These include presentations by Faith Ringgold, Anna-Eva Bergman and Émilie Charmy, among others.

According to a press statement, this year’s Frieze London is set to be its “most international edition yet”, with more than 160 galleries from 40 different countries taking part.

Galleries participating at Frieze London for the first time are Ginny on Frederick and Haresden High Street. Blue-chip dealerships attending include Sadie Coles HQ, Gagosian and Almine Rech.

Frieze London’s first art fair opened in 2003, attracting 27,000 visitors and £20 million ($25.4 million) in sales. Although sales figures are no longer published by the fair, Frieze London and Frieze Masters have attracted 60,000 attendees annually over the past few years.

Frieze London's director Eva Langret says, "With its rich history, diverse communities, and thriving arts scene, London is a place where ideas are exchanged, and innovation happens." She adds, "This year’s participating galleries attest to the continued vitality of the city."

Frieze London and Frieze Masters will take place from 11-15 October 2023 in The Regent's Park, with Previews on Wednesday, 11 and Thursday, 12 October.
