Visionary sculptor Pablo Damian Cristi presents The Third Christ Carrying The Cross

Red Eight Gallery was honoured to attend the momentous July event, an official international presentation of the unfinished masterpiece, The Third Christ Carrying The Cross Giustiniani, by the visionary sculptor Pablo Damian Cristi.

Hailing from Rosario, Argentina, and now based in Carrara, Italy, Cristi has emerged as an exceptional artist, pushing the boundaries of conventional sculpture to embark on a profound exploration of form and expression.

Drawing inspiration from his diverse background, Pablo Damian Cristi weaves intricate narratives through his creations, challenging societal norms and forging a profound connection with the human psyche. His sculptures become vessels of introspection, inviting viewers to embark on a transformative journey that transcends mere intellectual understanding.

With an impressive list of accolades from esteemed international art competitions, including Punta del Este, Carrara, and Torano, Cristi's prowess in the field is recognised worldwide. Having honed his skills at the renowned Nicoli studio in Carrara, he now facilitates sculpture workshops in Carrara and London.

The official international presentation of The Third Christ Carrying The Cross Giustiniani took place at the magnificent Fortezza di Villa Franca, near Torre Villafranca in Moneglia, on July 15th and 16th July. Supported by the prestigious municipality of Moneglia, this two-day immersive experience marked the beginning of a new chapter in art history.

The unveiling of Cristi's masterpiece was a historical moment, with a select group of individuals having the privilege of witnessing it for the first time. The Third Christ Carrying The Cross Giustiniani represents a unique collaboration between Prince Don Jérôme Luc Moneglia d'Giustiniani and the Giustiniani family, known for their patronage of the arts. Symbolising unity among countries, beliefs, cultures, and generations, this sculpture goes beyond religious interpretation and holds a broader and more universal vision where humanity is at the core of all creation.

The journey of The Third Christ Carrying The Cross Giustiniani extends beyond the artist's studio, as Cristi has chosen to exhibit the creative process, sharing his inspiration, strength, and emotions with the world. An extensive tour across Europe and Latin America is planned in the upcoming year to offer an immersive experience to art enthusiasts of diverse backgrounds and generations, fostering unity through shared appreciation.

The proposal of The Third Christ Carrying The Cross Giustiniani has brought together theologians, historians, and art critics, united in their dedication to creating a sculpture that resonates with people from all walks of life, transcending boundaries and leaving a lasting impact on the art world. This project beautifully continues the legacy of the Giustiniani family's patronage of the arts, forever influencing the world of contemporary sculpture.
