Alex Echo - Our Newest Addition To The Red Eight Family

Red Eight Gallery is over the moon to be giving our clients the fantastic opportunity to add Alex Echo’s extraordinary contemporary works to their collections.

This American-born, self-taught professional artist has followed his calling from age six in 1994 and has had no other profession other than creating art.

Alex travels the world, making and exhibiting his art, and has raised over £1.5m for various charities from sales of his work. Proceeds from his art have been used to rebuild an earthquake-destroyed school in China, support children with AIDS, support patients and staff at the NHS, as well as help fund The Elephant Family Foundation in London.

In 2019, Alex was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. After being prescribed a harmful medication and being unable to see a neurologist during lockdown, Alex lost most of his dexterity, rendering him unable to paint.

At the time, he was working on a huge commission for the NHS Trust and UCLH Hospital Trust and was forced to quickly adapt and adjust to working digitally. With Apple generously gifting Alex with their latest iPad Pro, he worked tirelessly with this new medium and developed many new genres of design, delivering and installing 89 large-scale pieces of digital artwork into 81roonms over five floors in London’s newest hospital, the UCLH Grafton Way Building, Proton Beam Therapy Centre.

Although, at the time, being diagnosed with Parkinson’s felt like a terrible burden, Alex describes it as an artistic blessing, “The universe in no uncertain terms told me I had said all I could say with paint…but gave me a new and unlimited medium and palette.”

Alex now works with various substrates from sustainable paper and maple, silver foil and brushed aluminium, as well as Perspex, life-size 3D printing and lenticular; all giving Alex the freedom to create in any direction he chooses.

He has built a successful client base in China, Singapore, India, Europe and the UK, with collectors in most American states as well. Collections include The Carter Centre, Jimmy and Roslyn Carter, HSH Prince Rainier of Monaco, The Princess Grace Foundation, Sir Paul Smith, Ted Turner, Oprah Winfrey, Robert Downey Jr. Madonna, Alain Boublil, The estate of Dr. Timothy Leary, Climate Change Capital SWATCH Watch, Nike, Sony, AT&T, MGM, Gibson Guitars, Broadway Cares, APLA, Seagrams, Montblanc, The Elton John AIDS Foundation AMFAR, The Elephant Family Absolut, Sebastian Schwarz, Glyndebourne and Brian Large.
